On February 20, 2009 the Green Lake County Law Enforcement community suffered another tragic loss. While on vacation with his wife Deanna, Timothy Lueptow passed away from a sudden heart attack. Tim Lueptow was 46 years old and a Green Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy for the past 23 years. Tim held many positions including detective and director of the Green Lake Area Drug Task Force.

In 2001 Tim had a dream to start a Blue Knights chapter in the Green Lake County, WI area. Tim worked for over a year to make this dream come true. Tim spent countless hours, organizing what is now known as the Berlin Blue Knights WI VII. Wisconsin Chapter VII was founded in 2002 and Tim was elected as the first President of our Chapter. Tim held this office for the first four years. During his term as president we lost Deputy Bruce Williams. Tim was instrumental in organizing and planning what is now our yearly event, The Bruce Williams Memorial Motorcycle Ride.

After turning the reins over to our current president, Tim went on to complete his Master’s Degree. Tim stayed very active with the chapter and decided to use the chapter as his basis for his Thesis project. Tim took it upon himself to research our chapter and completed a full 15 year plan for the chapter. Wisconsin VII has since put this plan into action and Tim’s work will guide us long into the future.

Part of Tim’s project included a mission statement for our chapter. Below are Tim’s words and our mission;

Established in 2002, the Berlin Blue Knights, Wisconsin Chapter VII, is dedicated to honoring the memory of Deputy Bruce A. Williams who was tragically killed in the line of duty on 10-19-03. Our passion of motorcycling goes beyond just riding; we hold dear to us the good times with friends. Promotion of camaraderie within our law enforcement and motorcycling family and continuing to build proud traditions remain our vision for the future.

In Tim’s honor the Berlin Blue Knights will continue to strive to complete our mission, although it may be with heavy hearts.
Tim was a family man and truly believed in spending time with family and friends to build the memories and traditions that we cherish today. Tim may not be with us today but his memory will live on with us forever.

Spending countless hours planning Blue Knight events Tim always had one motto, “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” As the snow melts and people’s lives continually get busier let us remember Tim’s advice. Don’t sweat the small stuff and enjoy every moment that you have with family and friends.

We ask everyone to keep Deanna, and Tim’s family in your thoughts and prayers during these difficult times.
